Background

Most personal finance apps feel either too simplistic or overwhelmingly complex. Nuance was designed to strike the perfect balance — a dark-themed command center that gives users full visibility into their financial life. The platform includes a main dashboard with total balance overview and multi-currency cards (USD/JPY), a home view with portfolio breakdowns and stock/crypto watchlists, deep analytics with spending patterns and category breakdowns, transfers with scheduled payments, linked banking with virtual card management, and API integrations for crypto exchanges and broker accounts.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was designing a dense, information-rich dashboard that never feels cluttered. Each view — from the activities chart and saving wallet categories to the weekly income vs expenses bar chart and daily spending patterns — needed to be instantly scannable. The AI robo-advisor integration required real-time market data feeds, while the multi-currency system needed live exchange rate conversion across wallets. Budget planning with per-category monthly limits and bill splitting features added additional complexity to the data architecture.

Outcome

Nuance launched with a comprehensive feature set spanning 7 core pages: Dashboard, Home, Analytics, Transfers, Banking, Connect, and Settings. The platform delivers real-time transaction notifications, AI-powered spending insights, PDF statement exports, and a budget planner with per-category limits. The dark UI with purple accents achieved exceptional readability scores, and the watchlist feature tracks stocks, crypto, and ETFs with live price updates.
